There was a discussion in the FIAKS community on Mukesh Ambani statement that “Data must be controlled and owned by Indian people and not by corporates especially global corporations”.
Isn’t this Death knell for MNC?
Well folks, I would imagine that Amazon won’t have problem in storing data in AWS India data centers. Neither will Microsoft. Its only Google/Apple and other large guys who don’t have captive Indian data centre foot print who will complain. Enter Reliance data center who is ready to serve everyone who does not want to with AWS or Azure.
A member of the community warns us that “the data is like the new oil” is a spin created by IT Fintech Corporations and we shouldn’t fall for that. There is already so much data with no clear scope of how to monetize it. If we keep adding more and more data to this pool, the marginal utility will keep falling steadily until data becomes new plastic. An intellectual adds that data is shared, misused and is creating data pollution. How will this be controlled? Another member said Data Pollution or goldmine depends on the knowledge on how to use data?
