Education is one of the most crucial parts of an individual’s life, we as human beings spend decades educating ourselves through a formal education that is through school, college/university, etc. but the question we ought to ask at this point in time is that, Is the traditional education system helping us to become the intellectuals we were created to be? Are they transforming us into the best versions of ourselves? Or is the school system just teaching students to memorize, complete homework and be afraid of your teachers? Did you ever stop to ponder upon such questions, have you ever asked yourself these questions? We all know about the ever-changing technological advancements that is how through the invention and innovation of different devices and systems the world is changing into a completely different place, to give you an example, around a decade ago it wasn’t as easier as it is now to text your friend a couple of messages in a row because there weren’t free messaging tools that everybody had access to like it is available now, even the internet wasn’t as cheap or good quality as it is now, the point here is simple, it’s that just how there’s an ever-changing up-gradation in the models of technology, in the same way, there must also be an up gradation in the model or teaching method of education. Future Amazon’s of the world are waiting to disrupt the traditional outdated education system and transform it into a whole new level. If the teaching methods will change drastically this raises concerns as to how will the Top universities and the Ivy leagues survive? And what will it even mean in the future to be graduated from a so-called “prestigious” university? Views poured in from our community members have raised various questions and given different solutions regarding the same, in fact if you have read the news lately you will definitely be knowing about how the current major companies like Apple, Google, Netflix don’t require their employees to have 4 year degrees as long as they have developed the required skill set and this could soon be an industry norm. LinkedIn found that many of today’s hottest companies to work for do not require that employees have a college degree. After further analysis of the data, LinkedIn identified specific positions more likely to be filled by non-college graduates, including electronic technicians, mechanical designers, and marketing representatives.
“Are the graduate/postgraduates from so-called premium business school useful to your organization? Or is their degree equivalent to Bachelors in Excel and PowerPoint(BEP)?”
This must leave parents with a second thought, rethinking and questioning as to whether or not they must spend USD 200,000+ and more on their kids’ education in the ELITE universities when the most important task is to make your child capable and skillful enough to handle real jobs in the world. What capabilities are these universities building? Good command over language, understanding basic algebra, language, science, math, etc. up to the 12th grade is more than enough. Instead, parents should encourage their kids to use the money that they would otherwise use to pay Tuition fees to start a business, they will gain more practical knowledge and become smarter individuals. Prominent companies nowadays are looking for skillful individuals and not just people with a ton of degrees. FIAKS is a disruptive model in the education field. Current knowledge partners of FIAKS are a true visionary and it seems like they are seeing a WhatsApp movement rising in the field of education & right skilling. It’s a short term v/s a long term vision. It won’t be long until this movement is going to start and create waves of change in the industry.
