In this digitalized era, where almost everything happens online and one has to operate multiple online accounts be it banking, shopping, or some other, and for each of these accounts you set up passwords. It then becomes quite difficult to remember several passwords at times. Of course, you do have the save option or the option to reset forgotten passwords. But you still have to remember some of your important passwords and in case of any urgent transaction, if you forget a password, you really do not have the time to do any recovery procedures. And as an alternative to numeric passwords, for some transactions, biometric authentication is used as it is unique to every human and provides more security. Well, here’s another interesting password discovery, your laughter could be used as your password!
A systems engineering team from the University of Lagos has made an interesting discovery regarding passwords. As per a revelation of the scientists that, every person also has unique laughter and cannot be easily imitated or imitated as it is. So, the team has researched various audible frequencies in a person’s laugh so that it can be used to create a digital signature similar to minutiae (hash) created by fingerprint readers. Scientists also claim that unique security codes can be created through laughter. [1]
Now, let’s check out what the FIAKS community opines about this research:
- It seems funny, imagine people randomly laughing in the office to transact on net banking. But it is super interesting as well. It is quite doable using AI but not sure if regulators give a thumbs up to this.
