This new program is a continuation of the “Visa Everywhere Initiative,” which the company created in 2015. The goal of the program was to encourage teamwork between entrepreneurs, according to Curtin.
“We didn’t want to compete with these great ideas of payments,” he said. “We wanted to collaborate with innovators and entrepreneurs who are coming up with great new ways to approach payments.”
Companies with at least one female founder will have the opportunity to submit solutions for one of two briefs. For the fintech challenge, they must answer the question: “Leveraging your company’s unique capabilities, how could your solution help transform consumer, payments and/or commercial experiences locally, regionally or globally?” And for the social impact challenge, they must answer: “How can women entrepreneurs around the world drive social impact by supporting sustainable and equitable livelihoods and strengthening local/regional economies?”
