Generally, when an app offers any kind of in-app purchase, it has to be done through Google’s in-app purchasing system utilizing Google Pay. This gives Google a 30% cut and allows the company to manage all payment processing.
Apps can technically bypass this by redirecting users to its website to sign up for recurring subscriptions, like what you see Spotify and Netflix do. But Tinder is shaking things up and skipping that website sign-up entirely.
