NatWest has become the latest high street name to attempt to boost its mobile banking offering in a bid to keep up with the rise of challengers, trialling a ‘virtual personal assistant to help customers manage their financial life’.
Mimo, which will be offered to 1,000 of the bank’s customers from Tuesday in a voluntary trial, will use open banking to look at users’ bills and day-to-day spending, and is also designed to help with their financial to-do list and budgeting.
As well as these features, which are becoming increasingly ubiquitous among bank and third-party mobile apps, NatWest also has a few other ideas for the app – which it hopes to roll out in full towards the end of 2019.
