Debuting today, Pepper will serve as a greeter tasked with educating retail banking consumers on basic product information such as the availability of self-service banking options and credit cards. Pepper will ask some initial questions to pinpoint customers’ needs and answer a customers’ questions.
Pepper launched at HSBC’s flagship Manhattan store on 5th Avenue last year where it was credited with increasing ATM transactions by 10 percent, attracting record foot traffic and new credit card applications, as well as an overall increase in all new business.
HSBC’s Head of Innovation Jeremy Balkin said Pepper is part of the bank family, augmenting and helping existing staff.
