A Singapore Airlines spokesman later confirmed with the Straits Times that the cameras were disabled and that “we have no plans to enable or develop any features using the cameras.” The newspaper reports the airline saying that these systems are manufactured by Panasonic and Thales, and can be found on the Airbus 350, A-380, Boeing 777-300ER and B787-10 planes.

But the cameras are there, and one can only assume that the manufacturer has included them for a reason.
