The MyGovID digital system is currently being tested across the country, with those in the pilot program able to use facial recognition, instead of paper, to apply for a tax file number.
The image taken is matched against passport images already on file.
“(It takes) a matter of minutes, rather than a month-long process,” Digital Transformation Agency CEO Randall Bregeaud told 9News.
